Gas fireplaces don't use the same steps as manual fireplaces. There are a few steps to turn them on including finding the gas control valve, turning that on and then finding the igniter button to light the fire. What to Look for in Electric Fireplaces Electric fireplace can provide the same real fire look and heat effects as wood or gas burning fireplaces, however frequently more effective and doesn’t cost much to operate.
This does not address our problem. We are in Ontario, Canada - not Manitoba. We are enquiring about a parts supplier and/or service for the Dru Fireplace, Richelieu Model, not an air conditioner. We live in Midwestern Ontario, specifically Wiarton, Ontario. Any supplier between London, Ontario to Owen Sound, Ontario or surrounding area would be suitable. Thanks for any help.

Thanks for any help. From what you have described, the problem can be related to three things: The pilot needs cleaning or the Thermocouple has failed. Or, you're not holding the gas control valve in long enough for the thermocouple to properly heat up.
It usually requires at least 1 minute. To clean the pilot all you need is a can of compressed air with a straw nozzle (like you clean your computer with) to blowout the pilot tip opening. If none of the above solves the problem, then it's definitely a failed Thermocouple. Or your particular burner may use a Thermopile or Thermogenerator. Whichever it is, they all serve the same purpose. Which is allow the gas to flow to the pilot when it's lit or stop the flow if the pilot goes out unexpectedly. Hope this helps you to troubleshoot and solve the problem.
Please let me know. May 27, 2011. Hi from retired Englishman in SW France, Sorry but it would be difficult to find someone on this forum to answer unless he or she lives in that area; it's just made up of ordinary guys and gals, probably at home, from anywhere in the world, with experience of addressing problems and giving guidance for free on the web;-0) Spares Suppliers You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make) washer spares' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can order. During the process you will be asked for the actual model number. Alternately you could try your local telephone directories for spares suppliers but I would think the former would be more successful. Good luck, John C.
